Purpose of Course
Health care personnel and other professionals constitute a special population vis-à-vis licensing and privileging issues related to personal health and questions of substance abuse. Many times, evaluations are needed to guide the decisions about health, appropriate treatment and monitoring requirements, licensing and privileging. Such evaluations should address all the issues in a coordinated way to meet the needs of the various parties--the person being evaluated, the licensing agency, those guiding treatment, those responsible for licensing and privileging, and perhaps others. This workshop is designed to bring together all the parties to review recommendations for conducting and reporting such evaluations. Through workshops like this, we hope to increase the number of qualified physicians available to do the evaluations.

Course Goals
• To articulate necessary elements in substance abuse evaluations and reports sent to requesting agencies
• To foster communication among agencies and physician evaluators
