As the digital landscape continues to evolve, understanding the intersection of youth mental health and online addiction is crucial for providing comprehensive care. This session will explore the current scope of problematic social media addiction, highlighting practical strategies to identify warning signs, engage in appropriate and healthy dialogue, and implement interventions.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will leave equipped with tools to support youth navigating digital habits, especially when complicated by co-occurring conditions like anxiety and depression.

Our faculty for the webinar is Brad Zicherman, MD. Dr. Zicherman is a Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University and Director of the Youth Recovery Clinic. The Youth Recovery Clinic is a specialty program at Stanford focused on the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders and behavioral addictions in children, adolescents, and young adults. A significant component of Dr. Zicherman’s work addresses digital media–related addictions, including problematic social media use, online gambling, and gaming. Dr. Zicherman completed his residency in Psychiatry, as well as fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry.
